Step 1 – Navigate to https://aka.ms/mfasetup and confirm your identity via call or text to change your authentication method:

Step 2 – You will then see all of your current registered authentication methods listed below:


Step 3 - Next, select + Add sign-in method:

Step 4 - Choose Authenticator app from within the drop-down menu:

Step 5 - Next, you’ll be prompted to download the authenticator application on your smartphone. Select Next.

Step 6 - On your phone, open the Authenticator app:

Step 7 – Within the authenticator app, select the plus sign (+) to add your account:

Step 8 – Within the Add Account menu, select Work or school account:

Step 9 – Next, select your preferred method (Scan a QR Code):

Step 10 - Next, you’ll be provided with your own QR code on your computer screen. Scan this with your phone:

Step 11 – After scanning the code, you will be prompted to test out the push notification within the Authenticator app to confirm that everything is working as expected.

 

You will now see Microsoft Authenticator added as an optional sign-in method:

 

Step 12 – Now that you’ve added the Authenticator to your sign-in methods, let’s set it as your default. Select Change for Default sign-in method.

 

 

Step 13 Select App based authenticationnotification as this will set the Microsoft Authenticator push notification as your default preference.
